West Brom duo earn accolade after Sky Sports pundit announcement

Curtis Davies announced his Championship Team of the Season so far live on Sky Sports Football with two West Brom players featuring in the XI.

The Baggies look to be back to their best after an emphatic 3-1 victory over Preston on Wednesday afternoon with Davies’ two TOTS inclusions playing a key role.

Maja was on the scoresheet yet again while Heggem played a crucial part in nullifying Preston’s attack and both players have been named in Davies’ TOTS (Sky Sports Football) and deservedly so.

Heggem’s defensive attributes have been on show all season while Maja has consistently spearheaded the Baggies attack and his inclusion demonstrates the need for West Brom to fight off any transfer interest after links to Ipswich Town in January (Fichajes).

Josh Maja is back among the goals for West Brom

Maja’s goal against Preston was his first, and second, since 23 November when the Baggies picked up a point in a 2-2 draw with Norwich City, prior to an eight-game goal drought.

If West Brom can keep Maja in form, they have every chance of achieving promotion this season with a lack of goal threat as their biggest concern over the past few months.

Of course, those chances will also hinge on the Baggies ability to find a swift resolution to the managerial uncertainty following Carlos Corberan’s departure over Christmas.

The goal will do the world of good for Maja’s confidence which will have undoubtedly taken a hit as a result of the woes showcased in front of goal.

Nevertheless, it was Maja’s 12th goal of the season, with Norwich’s Borja Sainz the only player to have scored more in the Championship this season.

His importance under the next manager will be astronomical as the Baggies chase a Premier League return.

In other West Brom news, Erik Ten Hag could become the new Baggies boss.
