Uros Racic exit: West Brom complications emerge after loan decision
West Brom cannot terminate the deal of Sassuolo loanee Uros Racic, according to DOOD.
The reliable Baggies X account reported on Saturday (11 January) that the Serie A outfit must agree to terminate the loan with Albion, with no existing clause for the Baggies to send the midfielder back to Italy.
Former West Brom boss Carlos Corberan, as relayed by DOOD (19 December), explored the possibility of terminating Racic’s loan at The Hawthorns before he left for Valencia.
Despite the Serbian being allowed a fresh opportunity to prove himself at the Baggies by interim boss Chris Brunt, it appears the West Midlands outfit are still eager to end the loan agreement.
DOOD wrote: “[West Brom] tried to send Racic back [to Sassuolo], but it’s been complicated. Basically his club have to accept it we can’t just terminate his loan.
“If they accepted it, they would be paying all his wages again. It’s difficult with international loans.”
West Brom will struggle to end Uros Racic loan deal
West Brom have already announced Lewis Dobbin’s return to Aston Villa, coming immediately after the 3-1 win against Preston North End on New Year’s Day.
Dobbin was named alongside Racic in the original report that the Baggies were considering ending several loan spells at The Hawthorns.
On paper, the deal to bring the 26-year-old to the West Midlands for the year seemed a relatively good one, but he has since been unable to challenge Alex Mowatt and Jayson Molumby for a starting berth.
West Brom remain in an excellent position to secure a second consecutive playoff berth in the Championship.
The 1-1 draw against Swansea City on 4 January kept the Baggies within the top six, albeit Blackburn Rovers are one point behind with a game in hand.

While Shilen Patel searches for the perfect Corberan successor at The Hawthorns, it remains imperative that he doesn’t neglect the opportunity to strengthen the squad in January.
Too many draws under Corberan have stifled Albion’s playoff push this term, and a few more quality additions could take the squad to the next level heading into the second half of the campaign.
Racic is unlikely to be granted many first-team opportunities until May, and while Sassuolo may be reluctant to absorb his wages, the Serie A outfit will undoubtedly watch his value plummet should he remain.
