Charlie Taylor to bring best out of West Brom teammate’s attacking talent

Ryan Mason has a Premier League-proven left-back in Charlie Taylor at his disposal at West Brom.

The Baggies signed the 31-year-old on loan from Southampton in the previous transfer window, giving the English manager more options in the backline.

Taylor could arguably make the left-back spot his own under Mason, with the English defender looking to kickstart his career at the Albion.

Callum Styles has played out of position at The Hawthorns in recent months, but the ex-Burnley star’s arrival at the Black Country outfit may change that.

Ryan Mason to use Callum Styles in more attacking West Brom role after Charlie Taylor transfer

There may be a role for Styles further up the pitch at the Albion after Taylor’s signing, Lewis Cox says.

The Express & Star reporter believes the Southampton loanee will be a regular part of the English manager’s plans at The Hawthorns.

With the left-back getting into the team, the Hungary international’s versatility could potentially come in handy at the West Midlands club.

Speaking on the Express & Star on 9 September, Cox said: “I expect we’ll see Taylor. And I think it raises the Styles versatility point about how he previously really was a midfielder. I don’t expect Styles to become a regular central-midfield option for Albion. They’ve got four of those, at least.

“Say there are games where Taylor is starting… Styles is a very useful attacker. We’ve seen that. We see that. I think there’s a role for him further up the pitch somewhere.”

Ryan Mason has promotion-winning squad at The Hawthorns

Nat Phillips and Chris Mepham could be the promotion-winning duo the Baggies have needed over the last few years.

The centre-back pairing under Martin was pivotal at the bet365 Stadium against Stoke City on 30 August, as the Albion got the three points after a 1-0 victory.

Josh Griffiths also looks like a better player with two solid defenders ahead of him, with Alex Mowatt and Jayson Molumby also part of the Black Country outfit’s impressive spine.

Opta’s supercomputer has predicted West Brom to finish third in the Championship this season, and with the way things have started this season, it may come true.

The Baggies are second in the league table after four matches, sitting two points behind table-toppers Middlesbrough.

While The Hawthorns faithful will feel they lack depth in certain areas, their strongest eleven certainly has the minerals to compete for Premier League promotion.
