Supercomputer predicts result of West Brom vs Birmingham City
Ryan Mason’s future at West Brom remains on thin ice ahead of a must-win match against Birmingham City on Wednesday.
West Brom’s 3-2 loss to Coventry on Saturday was a tale of two halves, and once again, pressure is increasing on Mason to turn things around, with the Baggies currently sitting 17th in the Championship.
West Brom were excellent in the opening 45 minutes, with Aune Heggebo’s brace putting the Baggies into a 2-0 lead early in the first half.
However, the league leaders responded brilliantly, with Jayson Molumby’s daft red card paving the way for the Sky Blues to come back into the match.
Up next for them is a home match against local rivals Birmingham, and a win is necessary if they want to breathe some life into their season.

West Brom predicted as favourites to beat Birmingham
Chris Davies led Birmingham to a record-breaking 2024-25 season in League One, and his team have slowly adapted to the demands of the Championship.
They come into the match in ninth place, having battered Norwich 4-1 on Saturday, although their recent losses on the road mean that the Baggies are predicted as slight favourites on 26 November.
According to Opta‘s supercomputer, West Brom will secure another win at The Hawthorns.
- West Brom have been given a 44.3 per cent chance of claiming all three points
- Birmingham have a 28.9 per cent chance of securing their third away win of the season
- A draw has been given a 26.8 per cent probability of occurring
Mason will need to get his defence well-organised against one of the most potent attacks in the league based on current form.
West Brom’s last meeting with the Blues was in February 2024, when Andreas Weimann’s late goal helped secure a 1-0 win at The Hawthorns.
Generally speaking, the Baggies have a fantastic head-to-head record against Davies’ side.
West Brom are looking for their 63rd win vs Birmingham
West Brom have recorded 62 wins, 38 draws, and 39 losses against the Blues since their first meeting in 1886, when Birmingham were called Small Heath Alliance.
However, in recent years, Birmingham have won four of the last five meetings, and they’ve especially found joy at St. Andrew’s.
The positive news for Baggies fans is that they’ve only suffered one defeat at home to Wednesday’s opposition since 2005.
Of course, both teams are completely different now, but Mason must use the Hawthorns to his advantage if he wants to secure a crucial three points.
