West Brom to officially announce high-profile exit on deadline day
West Brom’s season is going from bad to worse as big changes are planned at the club.
At the start of the campaign, many would have predicted West Brom would be in the mix for another promotion bid from the Championship.
But fast forward to the present, and West Brom have sacked head coach Ryan Mason and his successor, Eric Ramsay, is winless in his first four matches.
The Baggies are just above the relegation zone after a 3-0 loss to lowly Portsmouth on Saturday, with the Midlands outfit appearing to be on a downward spiral.
To make matters worse, there appears to be very little stability among the club’s hierarchy, which is far from ideal on the winter window’s deadline day (2 February).
West Brom president Andrew Nestor set to leave
On Sunday, reports emerged that West Brom president Andrew Nestor was set to step down after a disappointing season and a half at the club.
Nestor, who is also West Brom’s sporting director, has overseen some questionable managerial appointments and transfer signings and now, he looks to be paying the price for that.
Some West Brom fans think that Dominic Price, who is the technical director at Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv, is being lined up to take up a similar role at The Hawthorns.
While West Brom haven’t officially announced Nestor’s departure yet, reports suggest that will take place on Monday.
According to West Brom commentator Steve Hermon, Nestor will leave imminently and that decisions at the club have set them back “a quarter of a century”.
West Brom have one of the bigger budgets in the Championship, and despite being in the play-offs in recent years, they could get relegated this season.
They are just three points above the relegation zone, and 22nd-placed Blackburn Rovers have a game in hand on the Baggies. If they don’t make some signings on deadline day, this season could spiral out of control.

Will West Brom be active on transfer deadline day?
On the transfer front, there may be more positive news for Ramsay’s side.
Aston Villa’s Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba is nearing a West Brom switch after being left out of Unai Emery’s squad for the Brentford match on Sunday – a contest they lost 1-0.
West Brom have been linked with Brighton midfielder Andrew Moran but there is no guarantee the young Irishman will join the relegation-threatened Baggies.

Conversely, Samuel Iling-Junior’s loan spell at West Brom may come to an end after an underwhelming stint so far.
If West Brom are to beat the drop, Ramsay arguably needs more quality for the final few months of the season.
As they target signings, West Brom fans will also be eagerly awaiting what happens next regarding appointments among the club’s board.
