West Brom’s Championship relegation rivals announce latest fixture postponed
West Brom are having a wretched season both on and off the pitch.
In early January, West Brom sacked head coach Ryan Mason after only joining last summer and his successor hasn’t done much better.
Eric Ramsay replaced him at West Brom after impressing at Major League Soccer team Minnesota United, but so far, he is winless in four Championship matches.
The Baggies sit 21st in the table, just three points above 22nd-placed Blackburn Rovers and the relegation zone.
West Brom lost 3-0 to fellow strugglers Portsmouth, who have games in hand on their rivals, on Saturday, but now Pompey are preparing for a fixture pile-up.
West Brom keep in touch with Portsmouth as fixture postponed
At a time when West Brom president Andrew Nestor is set to leave the club, which is far from ideal for a team in relegation trouble, the Baggies need results and fast.
Next up, they host mid-table Stoke City at The Hawthorns in a must-win game; both for the players, Ramsay, and the fans.
Incidentally, on Tuesday, West Brom could have fallen further behind 20th-placed Portsmouth if they had beat promotion-chasing Ipswich Town at Fratton Park.
Pompey are near the bottom three but their home record is the 14th-best in the division. However, the club have announced that this game has been postponed due to a “waterlogged pitch”.
This means West Brom remain one point behind Portsmouth, who have two games in hand on the Midlands outfit.
Pompey have had a number of postponements due to adverse weather conditions and now they are facing a fixture build-up towards the end of the season.
Will West Brom’s winter transfer window signings keep them up?
As the winter window headed towards a conclusion, West Brom fans would have been forgiven for thinking the second half of the season was going to be a bleak one due to their lack of signings.
Goalkeeper Max O’Leary looked set to be the only recruit, with West Brom signing the Bristol City man until the summer.
But, on deadline day, West Brom signed former player and Aston Villa youngster Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba on loan.

West Brom also secured a double Crystal Palace swoop with loan deals for attacking midfielder Hindolo Mustapha and defender Danny Imray.
West Brom have one of the bigger budgets in the division and with the players at their disposal, they should turn this around. Whether they will, though, is another matter.
