West Brom mood shift backed up as Tony Brown backs James Morrison

West Bromwich Albion are back in form as they continue battling for their Championship future, while Tony Brown has piled the praise on manager James Morrison.

The former midfielder took over last month following a dismal period under the guidance of Eric Ramsay.

Following a defeat to Oxford United in his first match, Morrison has guided the Baggies through a four-match unbeaten run, including wins against both Hull and Bristol City.

The 39-year-old was given a huge task following the sacking of Ramsay, with the Albion unable to buy a win for multiple months, before he delivered two in the space of a week.

The mood has completely shifted at The Hawthorns, and club legend Bomber Brown’s comments completely back this up.

James Morrison has completely turned form around for West Brom

Serenaded by the travelling support against Bristol City on Saturday, Morrison has worked incredibly to galvanise the Baggies.

For the first time since the season’s early days under Ryan Mason, Albion seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet, placing them four points clear of the drop zone.

Speaking on BBC Radio WM after the final whistle, Brown said: “Albion runs through his (Morrison) veins. He loves this club.

“He took charge at a very difficult time, as we all know, but he’s turned it around so quickly.”

Following two disastrous appointments in Mason and Ramsay, the Baggies seem to have got it spot on with Morrison, who has completely altered the mood around the Black Country club.

The next step is to go on and secure their survival.

West Brom have kick-started momentum heading into final push

Winning twice before the international break, Albion have set themselves up brilliantly as they look to go on and confirm their spot in the Championship.

The simple fact of the matter is that a club of West Brom’s size should be aiming for promotion every time they find themselves in the second tier, however the story of the iconic midfielder coming in to save them is one that supporters will never forget.

As of now, the Baggies are one of the favourites to go on and secure survival, and it is easy to see why, given recent performances.

Comfortably beating Hull, picking up three points against Bristol City, alongside two points on the board from matches against Sheffield United and Southampton, they have more than deserved their recent haul.

With momentum on his side, Morrison’s next task is to create a much more comfortable gap to the drop zone, something that could be likely when assessing the recent run.
