Isaac Price: West Brom star gets familiar reviews as Northern Ireland World Cup dreams ended
Isaac Price failed to offer the attacking threat needed in Northern Ireland’s defeat to Italy, much like he has at West Bromwich Albion recently.
Price started the season as one of the players that West Brom could rely on, not only for his level of creativity, but also for his goals.
However, as the form at The Hawthorns dropped, so did his, and he has been little more than a passenger in the team as of late.
That was again the case as he had his chances of featuring at the World Cup ended with Northern Ireland suffering a 2-0 defeat to Italy on Thursday night.
And not for the first time this year, Price was far from his best.

Northern Ireland media react to Isaac Price display vs Italy
Price has seven goals and three assists for the Baggies this season, yet only two of those contributions have arrived since the start of November.
His form has nosedived in the second half of the campaign, with the 22-year-old failing to have the level of impact that fans had almost become accustomed to.
| Since the start of 2026 | Price |
| Games | 17 |
| Goals | 1 |
| Assists | 0 |
That was again the case for his country, with the West Brom midfielder rated 6/10 by the Belfast News Letter, with some very familiar words to describe his performance.
Their review of his performance reads: “Part of Northern Ireland’s midfield energy so key to Michael O’Neill gameplan, but unable to offer the attacking threat behind a double-figure goal return in international colours.”
Despite playing an advanced midfield role, Price failed to create a single chance in the 90 minutes he played, while also missing the target with his only shot in the game.
Belfast Live rated his display a 4/10, claiming that he “struggled to get into the game. Did little with whatever ball came his way.”
Given the risk of relegation at West Brom, his continued lack of form will do no favours.
James Morrison needs to find remedy for Price
Had Mikey Johnston been fit, West Brom may have looked to end the season with Price as an impact player.
However, he’s not, and the likelihood is that the midfielder will remain a regular under James Morrison.
If that is to be the case, the Albion boss needs to find a way to get him firing again and ensure that he can return to the form that saw him scoring goals on the regular.
West Brom have seven games to save their Championship status, and they will be looking for Price to play his part.
