Alex Mowatt: West Brom ace may have to look elsewhere as exile continues under James Morrison
Alex Mowatt could leave West Bromwich Albion in the summer if James Morrison continues to leave him out of the starting lineup.
Mowatt signed a contract extension in the summer, with fans ecstatic that the 31-year-old would be extending his stay in B71.
However, the midfielder was dreadful under both Eric Ramsay and Ryan Mason, as his physicality off the ball has been exposed.
Since James Morrison came was appointed as the interim head coach, he has preferred a partnership of Jayson Molumby and Ousmane Diakite.
Mowatt’s game time at West Brom has been reduced, and if Morrison is appointed permanently at the end of the season, his career in B71 could be over.

Is Alex Mowatt finished at West Brom?
Mowatt was impressive in the early stages of the campaign, but his form has completely dropped off.
The 30-year-old has made two errors leading to goals this season, which showcases how poor he has been on the ball.
According to Sofascore, Mowatt has recorded a pass accuracy of 87.7 per cent, but his aerial duel win rate of 42.4 per cent shows that he hasn’t got the physicality required to excel at this level.
Since he was dropped from the team, the Baggies have gone unbeaten in four games, which is certainly a damning indictment of his importance to the side.
| Stat | Mowatt |
| Appearances | 31 |
| Goals | 1 |
| Assists | 4 |
| Chances created | 44 |
| Tackles | 32 |
| Interceptions | 24 |
West Brom’s improvement with Diakite in the team has been is as clear as day, which has left Mowatt exiled on the bench.
If the Baggies are relegated, then the English midfielder could be heading for the exit door in the summer.
But if they stay up, Mowatt will continue to be omitted from the team, meaning he’s facing a double-edged sword.

Given his quality on the ball, there will definitely be clubs interested in the 31-year-old, and his three-year spell for the Brummies may come to an end in the summer.
James Morrison’s impact at West Brom has been brilliant – but it’s terrible for Mowatt
When it was confirmed that Morrison would take charge until the end of the season, fans weren’t entirely sure that it was the right move.
The ex-Baggies midfielder has no real managerial experience, but his love for the club is clearly showing in the way he’s motivating his squad.
West Brom were unfortunate not to secure all three points against Southampton and Sheffield United over the last month, but they have been duly rewarded in their last two matches against Hull City and Bristol City, with the players finally putting their quality on display.
Under both Eric Ramsay and Ryan Mason, the team was lacking confidence, but Morrison has reignited the belief around B71 that West Brom have enough to stay up.

West Brom look like they should have enough to avoid relegation, and if that is the case, then Mowatt’s future is up in the air.
And he’ll likely have to search for a new club if the board places their faith in Morrison.
