West Brom make shrewd Watford ticket offer that Shilen Patel should extend to Ipswich Town

West Bromwich Albion have announced discounted adult, concession and children’s tickets for their game against Watford on 21 April.

There is a real feel-good factor around The Hawthorns at the moment, as James Morrison’s side are in the midst of a four-game unbeaten run.

Back-to-back wins over Hull and Bristol City respectively has seen West Brom begin to pull away from the Championship relegation zone, but the job will need to be finished after the March international break.

With just four home games left for the Baggies this season, chairman Shilen Patel is evidently desperate to see The Hawthorns packed out in the relegation run-in to help get the team over the line.

As such, Patel and West Brom have made a shrewd financial move to attract more fans to the stadium against Watford, and they shouldn’t stop there.

What is West Brom’s ticket offer vs Watford?

Relegation would hit West Brom’s finances hard, and with Albion’s recent financial accounts showing a £17million loss, League One football could be catastrophic for the Baggies’ coffers.

Indeed, the Baggies have been operating under significant financial limitations even before Patel took over in February 2024, thanks in large part due to damage done during the reign of Guochuan Lai.

Despite that, Patel has continued to do his best to invest where he can, and is now also prepared to take a potential financial hit on the chin in terms of ticket revenue in the name of rewarding supporters.

As announced by West Brom across their various media channels on Friday, the Club will be running a special ticket offer for the match against Watford on Tuesday 21 April.

It will see adult tickets reduced to just £15, whilst seniors (65+), 20-25 year-olds and disabled adult supporter tickets will be priced at £12 respectively.

That’s not all, as both under-20s and under-17s tickets will cost £10, and under-14s go for just £1.

Why it’s a smart move and why it should be extended to Ipswich

Patel and West Brom decision-makers should be praised for this move, and it’s something Albion fans have absolutely deserved given what they’ve had to go through with their team this season.

However, it’s also an incredibly savvy move from an atmosphere perspective, as this will surely encourage those extra few thousand fans to purchase tickets, thus meaning there’s a strong likelihood of a completely sold out Hawthorns.

That’s precisely what the team needs right now, as there aren’t many more intimidating venues in the Championship when B71 is bouncing, and that’s what Patel is hoping to achieve with this offer.

It’s sure to work as well given the recent turnaround from the team and the fact it could be a huge match in the relegation run-in, so why not extend it to the final home game of the season for Ipswich Town?

The Tractor Boys are going for promotion and will be a challenging opponent, and if Albion are still in the relegation mix at that stage, then what could give them more of an advantage than a sold-out Hawthorns?
