West Brom vs Wrexham result predicted by supercomputer as Championship returns

West Bromwich Albion are back in action when they host Wrexham in Friday’s Championship clash.

The Baggies have won two games and kept two clean sheets in a row under James Morrison, who is spearheading the team’s push to avoid relegation.

Although the international break came at a bad moment for West Brom, they’ll feel comfortable that they can avoid the drop, as they sit four points above the relegation zone.

And with the Championship returning after the March international break, West Brom face Wrexham in a game which will be closely fought by both sides.

West Brom vs Wrexham set to be evenly matched

Wrexham have secured three promotions in three years, and they look determined to finish in the playoffs to ensure they have a chance of making history.

Phil Parkinson’s side sit seventh in the table, but they’ll need to be at their best as the last seven games of the season are far from easy on paper.

According to Opta‘s supercomputer, not much will separate West Brom and Wrexham when they meet in B71 on Friday.

West Brom win34.3%

Wrexham win39.8%
How the supercomputer predicts West Brom vs Wrexham to pan out

With neither team’s chances of winning predicted over 40 per cent, the data points towards a draw as being the most logical outcome.

In fact, West Brom and Wrexham have only faced each other three times in their competitive history, with the Baggies winning 3-2 in the reverse fixture in August.

The Baggies also won 2-1 in the Watney Cup in 1971, while the Welsh outfit prevailed in an FA Cup meeting in 1930.

While not much can be said about their limited head-to-head record, the Baggies know that a win over Parkinson’s men would be a huge boost to their survival hopes.

The Sofascore graphic above shows how much of an impact Morrison has had since taking over after Eric Ramsay’s departure, with his role in the revival of Isaac Price proving to be a huge bonus.

Isaac Price in excellent position to repeat early-season heroics vs Wrexham

There aren’t many West Brom players who are more talented than Price, who has rediscovered his best form in recent weeks.

Morrison’s change of formation has benefitted Price, who was particularly impressive in the 3-0 win over Hull City earlier in March.

The Northern Ireland international has been scrutinised for some of his abject performances, but his influence on the left-hand side has been incredibly positive under Morrison.

The Sofascore graphic above shows how he has been a standout for the Baggies, and after scoring twice against Wrexham in August, he could torment the Welsh side once again.

Price will have to be at his best on Friday, but if he continues his good run of form, it will do a world of good for West Brom’s season.
