West Brom have positive omens on their side as Wrexham double the target for James Morrison
West Bromwich Albion have positive omens on their side as they look to overcome Wrexham.
Following the culmination of the international break, Albion have a huge weekend to come as they welcome Wrexham to The Hawthorns, before travelling to Ewood Park to face Blackburn.
The Baggies have turned a corner under James Morrison, after he replaced Eric Ramsay until the end of the season.
Locked in a battle for their Championship future, Albion have forged a four-point gap to the bottom three, with a four-match unbeaten run under the former midfielder.
Aiming to bolster their survival chances, West Brom are looking to do the double over play-off chasers Wrexham, after securing a 3-2 win at The Racecourse back in August.

West Brom look to positive omen ahead of Wrexham bout
With avoiding the drop the main priority, the Black Country outfit have transformed under Morrison.
Following draws against Sheffield United and Southampton, Morrison would oversee 3-0 and 1-0 wins against Hull and Bristol City – dragging the club away from trouble for the time being.
| James Morrison’s record at West Brom | Total |
| Games managed | 8 |
| Wins | 3 |
| Draws | 4 |
| Losses | 1 |
The most remarkable fact is that all of these results came against sides who at least at times this season, have been in the hunt for the play-offs.
The same can be said for Wrexham, who find themselves sitting in seventh following their ascent from League One last term.
Alongside their recent record against those in the promotion picture, the Baggies have another good omen on their side.
Friday’s clash will be Albion’s first ever home league match against their visitors, after Isaac Price shone in the August win.
With this in mind, the club have done the double in each of the last four opponents they’ve faced for the first time in a league campaign:
- Wimbledon – 2000-01
- Gillingham – 2000-01
- Colchester – 2006-07
- Scunthorpe – 2007-08
Looking to add another scalp to this list, Morrison and his staff welcome Wrexham to The Hawthorns to kickstart their Easter weekend, before hopefully carrying the momentum to Blackburn.
West Brom have kick-started momentum heading into final push
Picking up two wins before the international break, West Brom have set themselves up brilliantly to go on and confirm their spot in the second tier.
The point has to be made that a club of Albion’s size should be aiming for promotion every time they find themselves in the Championship, though a rescue job by the former fan favourite midfielder will live long in the memory.

As of now, West Brom are one of the favourites to go on and secure survival, and it is easy to see why, given recent performances.
Comfortably beating Hull, picking up three points against Bristol City, alongside two points on the board from matches against Sheffield United and Southampton, they have more than deserved their recent haul.
With momentum on his side, Morrison’s next task is to create a much more comfortable gap to the drop zone, something that could be likely when assessing the recent run.
