Josh Maja axed as James Morrison takes gamble – West Brom predicted XI vs Wrexham
Josh Maja may find himself dropped by James Morrison when West Bromwich Albion host Wrexham at The Hawthorns on Good Friday.
The Baggies have won two games and kept two clean sheets in a row under Morrison, who is spearheading the team’s push to avoid relegation.
Although the international break came at a bad moment for West Brom, they’ll feel comfortable that they can avoid the drop, as they sit four points above the relegation zone with seven matches left.
Morrison probably won’t make many changes to his team for West Brom’s clash with Wrexham, but Maja could find himself on the bench.

Daryl Dike replaces Josh Maja in only change
Maja has been linked with a move away from West Brom, and that has clearly been reflected in his disappointing performances.
In the last match against Bristol City, the Nigerian striker was ineffective, and it wasn’t a shock when he was hooked by Morrison in the 69th minute.
According to Sofascore, Maja has underperformed his xG by a total of 1.25, which is incredibly poor.
| Stat | Maja |
| Appearances | 33 |
| Goals | 2 |
| Expected goals (xG) | 3.25 |
| Shots | 20 |
| Touches in opposition box | 46 |
Although Daryl Dike hasn’t been at the top of his game, he’ll certainly provide more of an attacking threat up front.
The USA international has been on the bench for the last two matches, but his height could unsettle Wrexham’s sturdy backline.
The rest of the team should remain unchanged, with Josh Griffiths keeping his place in goal.

And with Max O’Leary out injured, the Baggies’ academy graduate must step up once again.
Why Josh Griffiths can play a huge role in West Brom vs Wrexham
Joe Wildsmith and Griffiths rotated in and out of the side under Eric Ramsay, and it was clear that the latter was struggling with the physical demands of the Championship.
However, he looked incredibly comfortable against the Robins, and according to Sofascore, he made six recoveries at Ashton Gate.
Several times this season, we’ve seen Griffiths caught out by long shots, or fail to communicate effectively with his defenders.

But none of that was seen against Bristol City, and the shot-stopper can be extremely proud of how he returned to the side.
Griffiths will now have to step up when the Baggies take on Wrexham, who pose a huge threat from set-pieces.
But if he does, then it will be another step towards redemption for the 24-year-old, and an assured performance when dealing with set-pieces is most certainly needed.
