Sam Parkin backs West Brom to continue resurgence in tricky Wrexham showdown
Sam Parkin believes that West Bromwich Albion will continue their winning run when they take on play-off chasing Wrexham on Friday.
West Brom secured a second successive victory in the Championship with a crucial 1-0 away win at Bristol City before the March international break.
That was the Baggies’ first win on their travels in the league since October, with James Morrison’s side opening up a four-point gap to the relegation zone.
Next up, they host seventh-placed Wrexham, who are outside the play-off places on goal difference behind Southampton.
Former Millwall striker Parkin thinks this will be another tough away day for Phil Parkinson’s men, but for Morrison’s West Brom, it could be a big stride towards Championship safety.

West Brom’s winning run to continue
In Morrison’s last four games, West Brom have secured valuable draws with Sheffield United and in-form Southampton, while beating play-off hopes Hull City and Bristol.
The mood around The Hawthorns has greatly improved in recent weeks, something that could not be said towards the end of Ryan Mason’s tenure and Eric Ramsay’s short and miserable stint.
| James Morrison’s latest West Brom caretaker spell | |
| Bristol 0-1 West Brom | 21 March |
| West Brom 3-0 Hull | 14 March |
| West Brom 1-1 Southampton | 11 March |
| Sheffield Utd 1-1 West Brom | 7 March |
| Oxford Utd 2-1 West Brom | 28 February |
There could be an argument to say that the international break came at just the wrong time for a rejuvenated West Brom side.
And with games against high-flying Wrexham and fellow strugglers Blackburn Rovers to come in the next week, West Brom’s momentum could be halted.
But Parkin thinks West Brom will not only beat Wrexham, but they will also pick up a clean sheet in the process in front of their home faithful.
Speaking to Benjamin Bloom on YouTube: “This is three very difficult away games (Sheffield United, Watford, and West Brom) on the spin for Wrexham.

“I am going to go with them getting beaten here, though they won at Sheffield United. I am going to go West Brom to win 1-0.”
Is James Morrison on course to get West Brom role permanently?
The upturn in West Brom’s fortunes has been so stark since Morrison replaced Ramsay in the dugout.
West Brom eked out underwhelming draws during Ramsay’s brief tenure and went winless during his nine games in charge.
Not only are they picking up victories now, but West Brom are also better across the board under Morrison, as the Sofascore graphic below shows.

If he keeps them up, there may be an argument to keep the 39-year-old on full-time.
Conversely, it may be wiser for West Brom to ditch their habit of appointing young managers and going for a more experienced head next term.
But if he continues to shine in the dugout, the Baggies may turn to Morrison beyond this campaign.
