James Morrison revelation proves he’s really getting the best out of West Brom
James Morrison won’t have been impressed after West Bromwich Albion threw away a two-goal lead in their 2-2 draw with Wrexham – but he still had cause to smile.
The Baggies looked on course to clinch all three points on Friday afternoon in a significant boon to their Championship relegation fight, only for them to collapse late on.
Isaac Price’s deflected free-kick and Josh Maja’s penalty put the hosts in front at The Hawthorns, before the Welsh side rallied back through Josh Windass and George Dobson.
Regardless, the draw took Albion’s unbeaten streak to five matches and ensured they remained four points above the drop zone heading into the business end of the campaign.
There were plenty of reasons for Morrison to be positive with the survival bid truly on.

How has James Morrison improved West Brom?
Morrison has significantly improved West Brom since replacing Eric Ramsay.
The 39-year-old was given an interim deal until the end of the season, but after inspiring a timely response from his players, supporters want him to be given the job full-time.
| Manager | Matches | Goals scored |
| James Morrison | 7 | 11 |
| Eric Ramsay | 9 | 5 |
| Ryan Mason | 27 | 30 |
Judging from the numbers underlying the Baggies’ recent performances, and the newfound belief pulsating around the club, Shilen Patel would be foolish to overlook him.
It has now been revealed that Albion have registered an xG of two goals or more in their last four games in a row – a feat achieved only twice in their previous 15 league fixtures.
That, in a nutshell, proves that Morrison has revitalised the Baggies’ attack and taken their chance creation to new levels, an area in which Ramsay and Ryan Mason fell painfully short.
Morrison delivers at the perfect time
Handily for ‘Mozza’, owner Patel was in the Hawthorns stands to watch the 2-2 draw.
While the American businessman has been present for plenty of matches this season, he would have once again been able to take in the transformation under Morrison first-hand.

That must surely bode well for the interim boss’s chances of landing the job long-term.
He may well get another chance to impress Patel if he is also in attendance for the crucial trip to Blackburn Rovers on Easter Monday, but either way, he’s now in pole position.
