West Brom’s Karlan Grant sends 12-word message as Aaron Ramsey confirms retirement
West Bromwich Albion star Karlan Grant sent an emotional message as Aaron Ramsey confirmed his retirement from football.
Ramsey had a storied career in the game playing for clubs such as Arsenal, Juventus, Rangers and Nice over the years.
His strongest association is with boyhood club Cardiff City, though, and that is where he played 11 times with the Baggies ace in the 2023-24 season.
The 35-year-old took to Instagram on 7 April to announce the decision to hang up his boots, saying: “Diolch/Thank you. Onto the next chapter.”
West Brom do not have a connection to Ramsey, but their star forward does, and he proved that with his comment on the post.

What message did Grant send to Ramsey?
Grant has been out of action for West Brom since suffering a hamstring injury and having to have surgery in the 1-1 draw with Derby in January.
However, he has still been keeping up with developments in the football world, regularly commenting on teammates’ social media antics.
He continued to do this by reacting to Ramsey’s announcement, saying: “Some man, happy retirement brother.
“Pleasure to share a pitch with you.”
Clearly, they formed a close bond in his time in South Wales, judging by the message that he sent.
What was Ramsay’s record vs West Brom?
Ramsey has a brilliant record against Albion in his career, playing against them 14 times in total, with 12 Premier League, one Championship and one Carabao Cup match.
He has won 10 of those games, all of which were in his time with the Gunners, with two draws and two losses, some rare success for the West Midlands side.

The Welsh midfielder has failed to score in any of the games against the Black Country side, but he did notch an assist in a 2-0 home win for the Londoners in the 2015/16 season.
Throstles supporters witnessed just how good Ramsey was, as they came up against him so often, especially in the peak of his career, when they were in the top-flight.
He was one of the unlucky players in football, with injuries never really letting him fulfil his true potential, and Albion fans will be able to relate to that, as they have had several similar stars in recent years, who have been unable to get over their problems.
