Callum Styles to continue in changed role – West Brom predicted XI vs Millwall

Callum Styles may be the man for James Morrison as his West Bromwich Albion side takes on Millwall at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies picked up two points over Easter weekend, playing out a 2-2 draw with Wrexham, before the scores remained goalless against Blackburn at Ewood Park.

Crucially, The Albion matched Leicester in terms of points, leaving them four points clear of both the Foxes and Oxford in the bottom three.

A tough test awaits on Friday, though, with promotion-chasers Millwall making the trip to The Hawthorns.

Morrison has overseen a turnaround since taking over at the end of February, and it should once again be more of the same as he prepares his side to take on one of the Championship’s best.

James Morrison to stick to basics heading into Millwall clash

After falling to defeat against Oxford in his first match in charge, Morrison remains unbeaten.

Since then, the Baggies have picked up multiple big wins against Hull and Bristol City, while they have secured solid draws against promotion contenders Southampton and Wrexham.

Switching to a 4-4-2 formation last month, Josh Maja and Aune Heggebo have been huge beneficiaries, with the pair able to play off each other in the final third, while Isaac Price has benefitted from the freedom to drift centrally from a wider position.

Callum Styles operated out on the left side of midfield against Blackburn in a neat tactical switch and looked perfectly at home.

With the defensive solidity of Charlie Taylor behind him, Morrison may be tempted to stick with this as his side welcomes one of the promotion chasers.

Despite playing out a goalless draw with Blackburn on Easter Monday, Albion remained solid and still carried a goalscoring threat – as has been the case since Morrison’s appointment.

With West Brom chasing safety, now is not the time to experiment too much, which could see the former midfielder stick with the same line-up heading into Friday’s clash.

West Brom are close to getting over the survival line

It has been a disastrous season for West Brom on the whole, having sacked two managers and relying upon a massively unproven Morrison.

Though the Scotsman has done his duty thus far, and has the Baggies ever so close to getting over the survival line.

The current campaign will be one to forget for Baggies fans.

The simple fact of the matter is that West Brom as a club should always be aiming for the promotion race whenever they find themselves in the second tier.

Though positives can be taken into next season. Morrison has delivered thus far and is set to give the Black Country club a big chance to reset over the summer.

The Baggies are close; they just need to keep adding points to their tally as the season reaches its final few weeks, no matter who they are playing.
