West Brom learn potential points deduction as rules expert shares verdict
West Bromwich Albion have now been informed what a potential point deduction would look like, if they are handed one by the EFL.
Reports on 13 April had suggested that the Baggies had been charged with an alleged Profit and Sustainability regulation breach.
However, Albion hit back over those claims in a fierce 99-word statement posted on their official X account.
It is a messy situation, but if they are found to have done so, and a points deduction is handed out, it looks like it will be a maximum of three points.
West Brom fans face a nervous wait to see whether any punishment is applied, considering how it could affect their battle against relegation.

What could West Brom points deduction look like?
West Brom denied the reports, and said that they have complied with the requirements.
However, the report claimed that they breached the loss limits by a small amount, which could come with a small points deduction.
Dale Johnson, a rules analyst for BBC, has now spoken out, stating that the B71 club would be handed a three-point penalty for being £2million over the limit, while a £4m breach carries a four-point penalty.
| Amount over loss limits | Points deduction |
| £2million | Three point deduction |
| £4million | Four-point deduction |
He also revealed that the EFL will apply mitigation if the club has shown reduced losses season on season, so Albion would earn a point back.
What would it mean for West Brom?
A three-point deduction or a two-point deduction, depending on the extent of the breach, if it has happened, would put the Throstles in a vulnerable position.
The former would take them into the drop zone, below Oxford United by a point, while the latter would leave them below the Yellows on goal difference.
With four games of the season left, that would not be too hard of a bridge to cross, and is much more palatable than the six points that Leicester were deducted in February.

The Baggies just have to win their final four Championship games, against Preston, Watford, Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday to ensure their second-tier status beyond the end of the season.
Anything else may put them in a dangerous position, once the sanction has been handed down, if it will be.
