West Brom face Torbjorn Heggem transfer repeat amid George Campbell and Celtic latest

West Bromwich Albion are beginning to look ahead to the summer months, with their Championship future locked in.

Former midfielder James Morrison took over at the club back in February, guiding the Baggies on a 10-match unbeaten run to secure their spot in the division.

Initially, this task was deemed incredibly difficult, with Albion in disarray after the dismal spells of Ryan Mason and Eric Ramsay.

Instead, the Black Country club are able to look ahead to the potential rebuild still as a second tier club.

Though, as is the case after successes on the pitch, West Brom may have to be prepared to lose players over the course of the coming window.

Torbjorn Heggem scenario to re-emerge as Celtic target George Campbell

Alongside the aforementioned arrival of Mason last summer, the Baggies found themselves locked in multiple transfer sagas, with their own players linked with a move away.

Tom Fellows would eventually get his move to Southampton, while defender Torbjorn Heggem would make the switch to Bologna, where he has impressed this campaign.

After a drawn-out saga, the defender would finally make the switch to the Rossoblu on 15 August, earning around £10million for the Baggies.

However, Albion would be left short with the departure in the season’s early days.

Current defender Campbell has recently been linked with a move to Scottish giants Celtic, after his impressive form in recent months has played a huge part in the turnaround.

The one thing that Morrison will be desperate to avoid is a situation similar to that of Heggem and Fellows last summer, where long-winded sagas left the Baggies scrambling after the season’s start.

West Brom must be diligent with summer planning

It has been a fantastic period for West Brom, who have been let off after a terrible run threw them into the relegation zone.

Looking ahead to the summer, the chance is there to rebuild and reset – leaving the relegation worries in the past.

However, targets must be identified early, while any potential departures can’t remain unresolved.

Albion have been handed a lifeline in the Championship, with the opportunity to launch themselves back among the top contenders, but this coming transfer period must be handled correctly to avoid a situation like last year.
