West Brom: Where Albion away attendances rank in 25-26 Championship

West Bromwich Albion ended the 2025-26 season in sensational fashion, giving supporters the perfect reward after a tumultuous year.

With Ryan Mason and Eric Ramsay both enduring difficult spells in charge, the Baggies were dragged into a fight at the wrong end of the table.

Former midfielder James Morrison then stepped in on an interim basis in early February and guided Albion on a 10-match unbeaten run to secure safety, despite a two-point deduction.

Now, as summer approaches, the Black Country club will look to rebuild in the second tier and push themselves back up the table with promotion once again the target.

Yet without the way supporters galvanised before the run-in, they may not have remained a Championship club.

Away numbers emerge to showcase incredible West Brom backing

Ahead of the season, few could have predicted just how badly it would unravel for Albion, particularly after Mason’s bright start.

Yet, relying on Morrison to save them, West Brom ended the campaign breathing a sigh of relief, their second-tier status secured with games to spare.

Despite events on the pitch, the Baggies continued to draw strong away backing.

According to data from The Lower Tiers on X, Albion averaged 2,229 away fans across the campaign – the highest figure of any club in the bottom half.

Supporters still enjoyed some memorable days out, not least at Preston, where goals from Josh Maja and Daryl Dike set Morrison’s side on the way to survival.

One of the biggest clubs in the division, West Brom must ensure that rapturous away support is rewarded next season.

West Brom must rebuild and reward immense backing

It has been a remarkable spell for West Brom, who have been given a reprieve after a dreadful run threw them into the relegation zone.

Now, as attention turns to the summer, Albion have a chance to rebuild and reset to finally leave the relegation fears behind.

But this is also the moment to reward the supporters who stood by the club through the darkest moments of the campaign. After such immense backing in difficult times, the fans need and deserve to see ambition.

Targets must be identified early, and any potential departures cannot be allowed to drag on unresolved.

West Brom have been handed a lifeline in the Championship, and an opportunity to push themselves back among the division’s leading contenders – as is expected of the club whenever they are in the second tier.

But this transfer window must be handled properly if the club are to avoid a repeat of last year’s mistakes, and give their loyal fans the response they have earned, making the efforts of recent months worth it in the long run.
