West Brom face difficult Justin Seven-Seven call after latest Under-18 scenes

West Bromwich Albion will put in a difficult situation when it comes to Justin Seven-Seven’s future.

The Smethwick-born star has made waves in the youth ranks at the Fitlife Fitness Centre, with 10 goal contributions in 25 matches this season.

His latest exploits were a brace in a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, which only increased his stock further and has led to calls for him to be part of the first-team squad.

James Morrison could choose to throw the 17-year-old into the deep end next season and make him part of the senior set-up.

However, West Brom may end up paying the price if they end up promoting the German Under-17 international.

Is Seven-Seven ready for West Brom’s first-team?

Seven-Seven is one of the brightest stars in West Brom’s academy, but they can’t risk bringing him into the mix too early.

He has barely featured for the Under-21s, making just two appearances for Leigh Downing’s side so far.

That suggests that he is not even deemed to be ready for that level, so he would definitely not be suited to The Hawthorns senior side, as it could harm his development in the long-term.

What is the best option for his immediate future?

The best option for the youngster is to either keep him in the Under-18s, with a gradual promotion to the Under-21s if he performs well, or send him on loan to get regular first-team football in League One, League Two or non-league football.

The latter option would give him experience of the rigours and challenges that senior football provides, which would give him a better chance to succeed in B71.

If he is put into the squad, straight away, with no previous experience of what it is like, it could prove to be a step too far and diminish his confidence, which would damage his potential in the future.

Albion have to get it right, as if they do, Seven-Seven could either star for the Championship side or be sold for a huge profit, both outcomes which benefit the Black Country club massively.

For either of those options to happen, though, they need to make the right call for the upcoming campaign.
