Daryl Dike and Jed Wallace leave West Brom amid triple transfer update

Daryl Dike and Jed Wallace have left West Bromwich Albion, along with Joe Wildsmith.

The news comes this Friday from West Brom via X, as the trio have left the club following the expiration of their respective contracts.

It’s said that Albion had their minds pretty much set on Dike before the season started, with the club aware that they couldn’t keep him on due to consistent injury issues.

Wallace’s departure may come as a bit of a shock, as the winger has been with the Baggies since 2022, going on to take up the role of club captain.

Dike scored two goals for West Brom this season, as a late return to form doesn’t seem to have helped his chances of staying at The Hawthorns.

Update on West Brom trio shared

Dike’s contract situation always made it unlikely for him to have his stay extended, despite clear quality.

The number nine had one standout season for Barnsley in the Championship back in 2021, but since then, he’s been on a downward slope with the Black Country Club.

As highlighted by West Brom insider EyaWeGew on X, Dike will be on the lookout for a new club this summer, and could one day show the form of his old self, with Wallace also now seeking pastures new.

In other news regarding four Baggies players in total, Josh Maja and Karlan Grant are both said to be assessing their options, who have both been offered less money than what they were previously earning.

Max O’Leary is also in discussions with the club over a deal, as the keeper is a free agent this summer.

Finally, West Brom are very much hopeful of signing Danny Imray again this summer, but Wolves, Burnley and a team from Germany are interested in the Crystal Palace hotshot.

The “reality” is that Wolves and Burnley’s expected promotion aspirations will be seen as a bigger draw for the right-back, rather than a return to The Hawthorns.

Josh Maja and Karlan Grant can close the door on their way out

The decisions to even offer Maja and Grant new respective deals is controversial, but given the fact it sounds like they were both offered far less money it may not have been bad buisness.

But the fact the pair are looking at other options before making a decision shoudl given Shilen Patel and Co. all the understanding in the world.

The reason West Brom were almost relegated this season was because of players like them.

Chris Lepkowski has hit the nail on the head in his assessment of the update, claiming it’s a poor move to keep players who “have little ambition to improve themselves”.

Neither of them would be missed at Albion, and all three, including Dike, would do the right thing for all parties by moving on.
