Everything Jamie Vardy said about West Brom in new Netflix documentary
Jamie Vardy loved playing and scoring against West Bromwich Albion during his career, as shown in his new Netflix documentary, Untold UK: Jamie Vardy.
The now-39-year-old Vardy hasn’t called it a day on his career just yet, as he continues to turn out for Italian Serie A strugglers Cremonese.
Indeed, his side are currently sitting 18th in the Italian top flight, and are one point from safety with two more games to play.
Vardy’s career is a story fit for a Netflix documentary, having worked his way up from non-league football all the way to an unforgettable Premier League title win with Leicester City.
Over the years, many clubs fell victim to Vardy’s goalscoring brilliance, with the striker enjoying a particular penchant for netting in games against West Brom.

What did Jamie Vardy say about West Brom in his documentary?

11 years ago on 11 April 2015, West Brom took on Leicester City in the Premier League, as Albion marked their inaugural Astle Day in memory of legendary Albion goalscorer, Jeff “The King” Astle by wearing an old classic kit.
At the time, Leicester were sitting rock-bottom of the Premier League, and looking fairly nailed on to be relegated to the Championship.
Nigel Pearson’s side needed a catalyst win urgently, and that would arrive at The Hawthorns, with Vardy netting a stoppage time winner at the end of the match to bag a 3-2 win for the Foxes.
Speaking of that game on his new Netflix documentary, Untold UK: Jamie Vardy, the former Leicester striker didn’t say much about West Brom, but did sum up his psychology at the time.
“If I’m being told I can’t do something, then I’m doing everything physically possible to prove that I can,” said Vardy.
City’s head physio at the time, Dave Rennie, summed up Vardy’s mindset during that time too, saying: “(explitive) this, we’re not getting relegated. That was his mantra.
“He would say it, he would shout it. He would get people to where they needed to be.”
Leicester would go on to finish 14th that season, before they of course put together their unbelievable 2015-16 season that saw them win the Premier League, with Vardy’s goal against West Brom that day being a sliding doors moment.
What did other Leicester stars say about West Brom game?
Vardy wasn’t the only former Leicester player to look back on that West Brom clash, with Marc Albrighton, Andy King and Wes Morgan all discussing it too.
“Towards the end of that season, we were dead and buried,” former Foxes winger Albrighton said.
“People had written us off. I think the bookies had stopped taking bets, and we were doomed.”
King then offered his thoughts on the game, saying: “It was 2-2. It was over 90 minutes. Yeah, we were down and out.”
“That goal gave us the spark we needed to start believing ‘we can do this’, you know?” said ex-Leicester defender Morgan.
Thankfully, that defeat didn’t have much of a baring on West Brom’s season that year, as Tony Pulis’ side finished 13th on 44 points.
