West Brom nailed it with James Morrison decision – Jed Wallace comments prove why
West Bromwich Albion ended the 2025-26 season sensationally, giving supporters the perfect reward after a tumultuous year.
With Ryan Mason and Eric Ramsay both enduring difficult spells in charge, the Baggies were dragged into a fight at the wrong end of the Championship table.
Former midfielder James Morrison then stepped in on an interim basis in early February and guided Albion on a 10-match unbeaten run to secure safety, despite a two-point deduction.
Now, as summer approaches, the Black Country club will look to rebuild in the second tier and push themselves back up the table with promotion once again the target.
And now, as they look to rebuild in the Championship, the Baggies look to have nailed it with Morrison’s appointment.

Jed Wallace thanks James Morrison following West Brom exit
Leaving the club following the expiration of his contract, captain Jed Wallace has shared his thoughts.
Making 150 appearances for the Baggies, the experienced wideman departs after suffering an injury setback at the end of the most recent campaign, after causing huge problems in the two wins he did experience under Morrison.

In his message following the announcement, Wallace said: “I would like to personally thank all of the amazing staff behind the scenes and all the players I’ve been lucky enough to work with over the past four years.
“I’d also like to congratulate club legend Mozza on becoming the next head coach of this great club and wish him all the very best in his tenure at The Hawthorns.
“Finally and most importantly to you, the fans.
“To be honest, it’s hard to put into words what it has meant to me to captain this wonderful football club. Ever since Carlos (Corberan) gave me that honour, I have tried my utmost to represent you and the Albion in the best way I could.
“There have been plenty of ups and downs throughout the last few seasons, but I thank you all for your constant support.”
Following his departure, Wallace remained classy – as has been the case throughout his time at The Hawthorns.
And his comments about Morrison in particular ring true, with West Brom nailing it by making the appointment when they did.
James Morrison helped West Brom in a time of need
There aren’t many bigger Baggies icons this century than current boss Morrison.
After an excellent career on the pitch, the former midfielder was able to step in and rescue the Black Country club at a time of crisis, while the unbeaten run that he did notch up is no fluke at all, especially when it is considered just where Albion were before his arrival.

By returning to basics, the Scotsman improved almost every player in the squad, while his side struck a marvellous balance between defence and attack.
As a result, he has been rewarded with the chance to guide West Brom back up the standings, and it is certainly deserved.
The Baggies have already experimented with ‘projects’ this season, with both Mason and Ramsay failing to implement a genuine style.
Morrison knows the club, the squad and the fanbase, and he absolutely should be given the chance to lead them forward once again.
