Don Goodman was constantly worried by Nolan Galves in West Bromwich Albion's win over Burnley on Sunday.

The Baggies emerged 3-1 victors over Nicky Hayen's Burnley in a third win of the season already for James Morrison's men.

Albion are one of just three clubs who have won both their opening games in the Championship this season, and have taken themselves to second following a big result at The Hawthorns.

Harry Whitwell grabbed his second of the campaign, while a stunning brace from Isaac Price cancelled out Burnley's controversial opening goal.

Though the Black Country Club conceded early, their defence remained compact and resolute for the rest of the match.

However, Galves was one defender who failed to impress some, with Goodman the leader of his critics.

Don Goodman suggests Nolan Galves to breathe 'sigh of relief' after Burnley

Galves has started in all three of West Brom's opening games of the season now, and looks to be Morrison's first-choice right-back for the games ahead.

The Frenchman has well-known attacking abilities, though his defensive capabilities were always going to be questioned ahead of his move to the club.

There have been few complaints from Albion fans so far, but Goodman wasn't impressed after Jacob Bruun Larsen almost restored Burnley's lead, hitting the post before the break.

While speaking on Sky Sports, Goodman said: "Bruun Larsen is prepared to get in at the front post, Galves switches off, and he breathes a huge sigh of relief, the West Bromwich Albion right-back.

"That was his man; he wasn't aware of it and got away with it."

Goodman was also critical of Galves on several other occasions, but the right-back may not have many more difficult tasks this season than marking Bruun Larsen.

How Galves may have proved Goodman wrong

Galves will feel somewhat relieved that Larsen didn't score after being beaten by the Dane, especially given the circumstances at the time of the match.

However, the 23-year-old should be given his credit for other contributions in the game that arguably overshadow one mislapse in judgement.

Galves had eight defensive involvements in the match, which was only bettered by Ousmane Diakite.

He also showed signs of an attacking threat against a side pushing for automatic promotion, which will give Morrison all the confidence he needs in the young full-back.

Goodman was right to point out his moment of naivety, but other than that, he was spotless.
