Supercomputer predicts Wolves vs West Brom outcome as 15-year first set for Black Country Derby

West Bromwich Albion will be hoping for a huge win when they take on Wolves this Sunday.

Albion will travel to the Molineux Stadium in hopes of continuing their positive start to the Championship by taking down their Black Country rivals.

The clash comes as the final game before an extended international break, as James Morrison will most likely ask his players to run themselves into the ground for three points.

Cesar Peixoto's side have won just two in their last five games in all competitions, with their last league victory coming from a late Raul Jimenez goal against Sheffield United, but the striker could miss the derby through injury.

The last time the two sides met in a league competition, West Brom were held to a 1-1 draw at home in 2021, as Mbaye Diagne got himself on the scoresheet.

Before that, the Baggies had three straight wins over Wolves, and you would have to go even further back to find the Old Gold's last league win over Albion.

Supercomputer predicts Wolves vs West Brom outcome

West Brom have been going under the radar this season, and have battled against the odds so far.

It even transpires to their own players, with the likes of Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Callum Styles emerging as two of the Championship's most underrated players

But Albion may have to fight against the odds even more against Wolves, with Opta's supercomputer predicting the hosts as favourites for the win.

The supercomputer has given Wolves a 53.6 per cent chance of winning, while the Baggies have a predicted 22.7 per cent chance of getting three points.

This leaves a 23.7 per cent chance of both sides sharing a point each, in what is expected to be a fiery Black Country Derby clash.

If Wolves were to win, it would be their first league victory over West Brom in 15 years, when they emerged 3-1 winners on 8 May, 2011.

Thankfully, Morrison may know how to defy this prediction.

How West Brom can target shaky Wolves area

One area West Brom are currently thriving in is their defensive department.

The Baggies have only conceded seven goals in the Championship, the joint-third-best defence in the league.

But statistically, Wolves have conceded the least amount of xG in the league with 6.30.

Despite this, their defence is massively underperforming, having conceded 10 goals, 3.7 more than they should have done on paper.

There are clear cracks that lie in this Wolves team, and in its defence.

West Brom can go direct or attack from wide, with their frontline currently in red-hot form, primed to hurt their Black Country rivals.
