Three West Brom players who will be fighting to secure their future at The Hawthorns

West Brom have started the season well under James Morrison.

The Baggies have seemingly built a squad capable of achieving much more than what occurred last campaign.

Strong business in the market has seen The Hawthorns outfit pick up 10 points from a possible 15 so far this season.

That early momentum has raised expectations and hope, with Morrison now boasting greater depth and competition across his squad.

Yet while prospects look brighter, not every player will be guaranteed a long-term role in his plans.

For a few of those contracted with the Baggies, they will be playing to secure their future in the Midlands.

Tammer Bany faces toughest season yet at West Brom

Tammer Bany has not had an easy time with West Brom, with the Jordanian spending most of last season on the sidelines.

Since his arrival in the winter window of the 2024-25 season, the striker has only featured nine times in all competitions.

Now, with Aune Heggebo, Barney Stewart and the excellent form of Jimmy-Jay Morgan, Bany has quickly found himself with plenty of competition in front of him.

The 22-year-old's opportunities may be slim this season, but he can still push his way into Morrison's plans by working hard in training and making the most of any chance he gets.

Otherwise, the Baggies may look to part ways with a forward that is unlikely to play much of a role going forward.

Why Alfie Gilchrist needs to excel away on loan

Alfie Gilchrist is a player with a lot of talent, but it has not quite worked out for him at The Hawthorns yet.

However, Gilchrist still has plenty of time to work his way back into West Brom's plans.

The defender's contract runs until June 2029 and this season out on loan with Leyton Orient will provide him the game time required to continue developing.

However, if he struggles in League One, then questions may be asked of how he will perform for the Baggies in a higher division.

Making this loan spell a possibly quite important one.

Conor Townsend is fighting for another contract

Conor Townsend has returned to West Brom as an experienced voice in the dressing room, and his fight may be one battled off the pitch.

Callum Styles is undoubtedly the Baggies' first-choice left-back, and that does not look like changing anytime soon.

However, Townsend may be prove to be a crucial, experienced and influential voice in the changing room for Morrison.

His current deal runs out at the end of the season, but if he is a positive part of the dressing room, Morrison could look to keep him around longer.
