West Brom boosted to break two-decade hoodoo as latest Derby County reveal emerges

West Bromwich Albion may finally have luck on their side when facing Derby County on Wednesday.

Albion don't have the best of luck against the Rams, and particularly don't like playing at Pride Park.

James Morrison's men have travelled for the midweek Championship clash, and will be hoping to head to the top of the table with a win.

The Baggies snapped a three-game run without a win when they beat Watford 1-0 last time out in the division.

Derby, on the other hand, have to pick up the pieces, as John Eustace's side are coming into this one on the back of a heavy 3-0 loss to West Ham.

Though the Rams will know that they often have West Brom's number at Pride Park, there are a few reasons why they may be sweating this time round.

Derby County reveal only bolsters West Brom ahead of showdown

West Brom have suffered another Mikey Johnston blow, with the winger set for an extended period of time on the sidelines after another setback.

Apart from Johnston, the Black Country Club have practically everybody they want fit.

But Derby can't say the same.

As highlighted by writer and Derby expert Ryan Conway on X, the Rams are light in numbers and will be missing some key players against the Baggies.

Striker Rhian Brewster is still not medically cleared for the match due to a concussion he picked up recently, with another centre-forward, Carlton Morris, also out with a calf issue.

Midfielder Lewis Travis won't be available until after the international break with a soft tissue problem, as the highly-rated Patrick Agyemang will miss this match and many more after his ACL injury.

Defensive trio Craig Forsyth, Derry Murkin and former Albion man Matt Clarke will all be unable to play, too.

If West Brom are to break their 23-year wait for a win at Pride Park, now would be the time.

How James Morrison can unmorally help West Brom to three points

West Brom look a different team from the evidence seen so far this season, and could be dark horses to get into the play-offs.

But challenges like this will test Albion's long-term success, as a win over Derby would breed further confidence among players and fans.

Charlie Taylor is likely to start at left-back for Derby, a player Morrison knows all too well from last campaign.

The West Brom boss may purposefully instruct his players to overload Derby's left side to get at Taylor, exposing his many weaknesses.

Morrison needs to do what is necessary for the win, and if this does happen, it's not personal towards Taylor.
