West Brom predicted XI vs Shrewsbury as Barney Stewart gets chance to outdo Aune Heggebo

James Morrison is likely to make a handful of changes when West Brom continue their pre-season campaign at Shrewsbury Town this weekend.

Albion defeated Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at St George's Park to begin their preparations for the new season.

That was then followed up with a 4-1 win over Bromley last Friday in the Algarve, where the Baggies enjoyed some warm-weather training.

Morrison's men now head back to the UK to take on Shrewsbury at Croud Meadow on Saturday.

West Brom named a far stronger starting line-up than expected against Bromley last time out.

Morrison will know the importance of every player getting minutes, which is why changes can be expected against the Shrews.

Barney Stewart gets nod in five West Brom changes

Barney Stewart did not take long at all to show what he is capable of as he rounded off the scoring against Bromley with a nice finish.

That goal was assisted by Ollie Bostock from out wide, and it may well be that those two players are brought into the XI here.

Should that happen, Aune Heggebo would almost certainly make way for Stewart, while youngster Harry Whitwell could also make way.

It may well be one of two from Heggebo and Stewart in terms of who leads the attack, so the latter will be eager to outshine his teammate in these summer fixtures.

In terms of the other changes, Morrison will want to cast an eye over Chris Mepham and Krystian Bielik at the back, so Nat Phillips and George Campbell may make way.

The only other predicted change comes in the engine room, where Jayson Molumby will be raring to go from the off, possibly in place of Alex Mowatt.

Carter Pinnington among others pushing for minutes

Carter Pinnington arrived from Liverpool on a free contract earlier in the summer.

West Brom News previously reported how Pinnington had been part of West Brom's senior side in training.

It is not yet clear if he will still be in and around the senior squad come the start of the season.

But he is very much involved for now and will be eager to get some minutes, having not been used against Bromley.

Jamal Mohammed, Ben Cisse and Alfie Maughan are the others who did not get off the bench last week.
