James Morrison has some big selection calls to make for West Bromwich Albion's trip to Wrexham.

The Albion's strong start to the 2026-27 season is coming under increasing risk of fizzling out already.

Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City means it's now back-to-back defeats and three games without a win in the Championship.

It remains to be seen just how much of a toll losing successive Midlands derbies will have on Morrison's side.

Their resolve will be tested again on Tuesday night, as the Baggies travel to Wales for a clash with Wrexham.

Ahead of the 7:45pm kick-off, West Brom News predicts how Morrison will line his team up at the Racecourse Ground.

James Morrison may shuffle West Brom deck in defence

With no clean sheet kept in the last three games, Morrison might need to re-asses his defensive structure against Wrexham.

One player who surely won't need to sweat over his place in the starting XI is goalkeeper Max O'Leary, who was again superb against Birmingham.

Callum Styles is arguably the best left-back in the Championship, and could continue his record of starting every league game this term.

However, it may be from right-back against Wrexham, as Brayann Pereira didn't have a great game against Blues and might be dropped as a result.

That could leave Conor Townsend to come in at left-back, whilst Chris Mepham may keep his place after a proper captain's performance on Saturday.

George Campbell could come in for Nat Phillips next to him though, as the latter conceded the penalty against Blues and didn't play well.

So, with a couple of changes made at the back, will Morrison keep altering his starting lineup further up the pitch?

Morrison could rip up midfield structure from Birmingham

Moving into midfield, Felix Horn Myhre didn't play well against Blues, and could make way for Isaac Price to start on the left wing.

Over on the right wing, Harry Whitwell deserves another starting berth and could give Morrison a more natural wide pairing than the one he deployed against Blues.

Rabby Nzingoula may not have to drop out the side though, as the Frenchman was solid against Birmingham.

Instead, he may be shifted into central midfield with Toby Collyer making way instead, as the 22-year-old looked off the pace at the weekend.

Ousmane Diakite was excellent against Blues, and may make his ninth start of the Championship season in Wales.

That just leaves the forward line to sort out, and Morrison has a fascinating decision to make here.

Time may have come for Morrison to be ruthless on Heggebo

Jimmy-Jay Morgan had a quiet afternoon against Birmingham, but he was largely starved of quality service.

He could start again though, as Albion always carry a goalscoring threat whilst he's on the pitch.

The same may not be said for Aune Heggebo, however, as the Norwegian has now scored just once in his last seven games.

Heggebo was bitterly disappointing on Saturday, and Morrison may feel it's now time to see what he's got in Barney Stewart from the off instead.
