James Morrison is delighted with the start that Felix Horn Myhre has made at West Bromwich Albion.

The Baggies spent £2.5million to sign the midfielder from SK Brann this season, knowing they had stolen a fan favourite from the Norwegian side.

The 27-year-old scored on his debut for the Albion in a 4-1 Carabao Cup victory against Rotherham at the start of the season.

Horn Myhre has since been a regular in the starting eleven and grabbed an assist against QPR in his last appearance for the Black Country Club.

The Baggies are happy with the strong start he has had at The Hawthorns, but believe there is still room for improvement.

Morrison knows it may take some patience before Horn Myhre starts hitting top numbers for West Brom, though the midfielder comes in handy for other reasons.

Why James Morrison goes to Felix Horn Myhre with his problems

Morrison was able to add some more experience to his backroom staff over the summer, which has shown in performances, particularly in the final third.

The 40-year-old is still a young and developing head coach who has many years left in the game to learn.

The West Brom boss came under fire from some Baggies fans after the way he set up in the Black Country Derby loss to Wolves before the break.

The loss at the Molineux won't be the only time that Morrison has run into some obstacles this season, but Horn Myhre is a player he believes he can count on in certain moments.

Morrison explained, as quoted by the Express and Star: "He’s an intelligent footballer and also a good human being.

"You tell him one thing, and he’ll do it, or maybe I’ll have a query, and I’ll go to him - because he’s that type of person. He’s probably a different type of leader from what’s in the squad.

“He’d been used to playing in a different formation, but you can see his qualities. It’s a big step up in terms of the league; a lot more physical. It’s a big adjustment for him."

Horn Myhre has played in several positions for Morrison already this season: central midfield, left side of attack and as a second striker.

Perhaps he will take off once Morrison can find his best position.

Why international scenes may not favour Horn Myhre

Horn Myhre faces stiff competition at West Brom, with Jayson Molumby, Rabby Nzingoula and Ousmane Diakite all strong options for Morrison.

His versatility does help him out, because he also offers the Baggies a second striker or attacking midfield option.

Morrison has veered away from starting two strikers at times this campaign, but Barney Stewart's antics for Scotland's U21s give him a good chance of being involved in the starting eleven after the break.

The 22-year-old scored a brace in Scotland's U21s win over Azerbaijan, and will push to start over Aune Heggebo.

That said, Horn Myhre will have to once again battle against his midfield comrades Molumby and Diakite, a pair that are rarely dropped by Morrison.
