Toby Collyer fee emerges after West Brom transfer hijacked
West Bromwich Albion may have to look elsewhere as their pursuit of Toby Collyer looks to be unsuccessful.
James Morrison is known to want add further reinforcements to his Baggies squad before the end of the transfer window.
It looked like a return for Manchester United midfielder Collyer was on the cards before the 1 September deadline next week.
The 22-year-old made 12 appearances for Albion during a loan spell from the Red Devils in the 2025/26 campaign.
West Brom have all three of their competitive fixtures this season, but Morrison's squad still looks a little light of numbers.
However, Collyer's potential return is fast looking dead in the water, and the fee to land him has now emerged.

A return for Collyer would certainly have made sense given he performed pretty well during his time at Albion.
However, it emerged late on Tuesday that Albion are in serious danger of missing out on Collyer's signature.
talkSPORT transfer correspondent Alex Crook reported that Premier League side Hull City were ready to hijack West Brom's move for Collyer.
Crook followed up on his original post on Wednesday to report that Hull believe Collyer would be available for as little as £3million.
Collyer made five appearances for the Tigers in the second half of last season, when he moved to the MKM Stadium after the end of his stint with Albion.
It now looks as though the 22-year-old is set to get a chance to play regularly in the Premier League this season, at a bargain price.
What next for West Brom?
There is no doubt that this one is a bit of a disappointment, especially as it looked like a transfer was imminent.
But the Baggies are, thankfully, reasonably well stocked in the centre of midfield anyway.
It might be that Morrison now turns his attention elsewhere, with the Baggies in need of strengthening on the flanks before the end of the window.
Attacking reinforcement should be high on West Brom's wish list over the coming days, because they are looking a little light in the final third.
