West Bromwich Albion have announced the exit of Josh Griffiths to Stoke City.

The Baggies confirmed the departure of their homegrown talent on Thursday, who has now made the move to Championship opposition.

Albion have already conducted a refresh of their goalkeeping department, announcing Max O'Leary's extended stay after Joe Wildsmith left The Hawthorns.

The Black Country Club also confirmed the arrival of Matt Ingram this week, who joins James Morrison's side with plenty of EFL experience.

It is still expected that the Baggies will sign another shot-stopper this window, but whether it is someone who will push O'Leary for competition is unknown right now.

The changes have left West Brom with the decision to let Griffiths go, who himself needed a new challenge, which he now has at the Bet365 Stadium.

West Brom transfer details revealed for Josh Griffiths sale

Griffiths lost his place in the side towards the end of last season, as O'Leary played a big part in keeping West Brom in the Championship.

Despite him coming through the ranks for the Baggies, all parties felt like it was the right time for the 24-year-old to move on.

With speculation surrounding Viktor Johansson at Stoke, the Potters have made sure that they won't be left short in goal, should their Swedish international leave this summer.

West Brom confirmed the departure of Griffiths across their social media platforms, who leaves Albion after a 14-year association with the club.

As Express and Star reports, West Brom will receive a fee of £600,000 for their academy product, as well as potential future add-ons, with an included sell-on clause.

Griffiths sends West Brom fans a message

Griffiths would have loved to have cemented himself as Albion's first-choice keeper, but that looked unlikely under Morrison.

Albion now have two experienced goalkeepers in Ingram and O'Leary, who are both capable of being reliable options in the Championship.

Griffiths opened up on his West Brom exit through Instagram, penning an emotional message to Baggies fans.

The 24-year-old wrote: "14 years later, and my West Brom journey has come to an end.

"Thank you to the fans for their unbelievable support throughout my journey. It means everything, and it’s something I won’t forget.
I’d like to wish the club all the very best for the future."

Albion fans will no doubt wish him all the best, but will still want to get six points over Stoke next season.

West Brom remain in the hunt for another new goalkeeper, as speculation as to who in particular may emerge soon.
