West Bromwich Albion striker Aune Heggebo could see less game time under James Morrison next season.

The Baggies signed Heggebo last summer from Norwegian side Brann in a multi-million-pound deal that came with high expectations.

After a slow start to life in England, the number nine started to find his feet under Ryan Mason.

However, like many Albion players, he then lost his touch when Eric Ramsay arrived.

But things didn't exactly get any better for the 24-year-old on an individual level under the management of Morrison.

Now, Heggebo could take a backseat at The Hawthorns, with West Brom close to landing multiple new forwards.

West Brom transfer news isn't good for Aune Heggebo

Darly Dike has left West Brom, with Heggebo and Josh Maja the only other two strikers at the club, though the latter could still depart this summer.

Albion have offered the Nigerian new terms, but he's yet to sign on the dotted line.

Either way, Shilen Patel and Co. aren't waiting around this summer, with West Brom set to announce the signing of Chelsea youngster Jimmy-Jay Morgan.

The forward got double figures for Peterborough United last season, and an agreed fee of £1.3million suggests he will be in Morrison's first-team plans.

Not only that, but the Baggies are advancing in talks for Falkirk centre-forward Barney Stewart, and are close to beating Lincoln City for his signature.

Regardless of what happens with Maja, it looks like Heggebo may be set for reduced minutes next season under Morrison, especially if the Baggies can pull off the coup of Stewart.

Maja exit now looking likely; West Brom may still have four strikers to start new season

Given that the Baggies are close to signing another two new number nines, perhaps the feeling is that Maja will leave.

But Albion have done their homework in the forward area in preparation for this possibility.

West Brom have been linked with Lorient's Bamba Dieng, who is set to become a free agent at the end of June.

The Black Country Club may lose Maja for nothing, but they could also sign his replacement for free in the same window.

It will be an interesting summer, to say the least, as West Brom won't stop once they get deals over the line for Stewart, Morgan, and Liverpool's Carter Pinnington.
