West Brom plan becomes clear as out-of-window Ollie Bostock transfer announced
West Bromwich Albion have announced that Ollie Bostock has left on loan to join Boston United.
The Albion are well-stocked with youth talent right now and are looking to improve their status as one of the best academies in the EFL.
Bostock is someone who has impressed James Morrison since he took over, but he was always going to find it difficult to get game time this season.
That's been made even clearer since the Baggies' scintillating start to the campaign, as they now find themselves top of the Championship following a 1-0 win over Derby County.
The Black Country Club have been exploring the potential of loaning Bostock out this summer, but no move came to fruition ahead of the summer transfer deadline.
But West Brom found a new option for Bostock, with the exciting teenager ready to tear up the National League.
Why West Brom have sanctioned short-term Ollie Bostock exit
West Brom announced that they have sanctioned the loan exit of Bostock on Thursday.
The Wales U21s star has joined National League side Boston United on a short-term loan deal, which will expire in January.
Interestingly, the Pilgrims' last game saw them lose to West Brom's U21s side 1-0 in the National League Cup, though Bostock didn't feature.
The catch with the move is that he will return in the winter, when there will only be six months left on his deal with the Baggies.
It looks like West Brom are giving Bostock a chance to show why he deserves a new contract.
However, if he can't cut it at this stage of his career in the fifth tier of English football, Albion may not look to renew the 19-year-old's deal.
Who else could West Brom loan to the National League?
West Brom were allowed to sanction Bostock's temporary exit outside the English transfer window due to rules that permit National League clubs to sign players from the EFL on temporary moves.
While this was clearly Bostock's only chance of playing senior football in England once the transfer window had past, it still seems like this is West Brom's plan that will dictate whether he gets a new contract or not.
It's sink or swim for Bostock, with some Baggies fans of the opinion that he isn't good enough for the Championship.
West Brom have some other talented U21s stars, namely Jack Bray, Carter Pinnington, Rio Parmar, Remar McNeil and more.
Albion may still look to loan some of these players out to the National League, though they need to keep a good core of players at the Fitlife Foods Performance Center.
