West Brom still have transfer work to do amid latest squad reveal

West Brom's transfer business has not been enough so far.

The Baggies have reinforced James Morrison's side for another crack at Championship promotion.

They have made a total of six signings, for a combined total of approximately £3.4million.

The likes of Barney Stewart, Jimmy Jay-Morgan and Nolan Galves have come through the door.

While there is a renewed optimism around The Hawthorns after financial limitations were eased, there is reason to be cautious too.

They may still be left short when the second tier season kicks off in just over two weeks time.

Albion still have work to do in the market, the latest squad reveal proves that.

West Brom News has covered the amount of players that the Baggies lost due to expiring contracts this summer.

The likes of Josh Maja, Daryl Dike, Karlan Grant and Jed Wallace all departed, leaving a void in the ranks.

According to data from football website Transfermarkt, the combination of incomings an outgoings has left them with 21 players in the first-team squad.

That is the lowest tally in the division, with Watford being the second lowest with 23 and newly-promoted Lincoln City third with 24.

That could be a problem for Morrison, especially with ambitions to return to the top-flight, which has proved to be a hard task for the B71 club in recent years.

Why is it such an issue for James Morrison and Co?

A lower amount of players means less room for injuries, and for a lack of form from star players, like Isaac Price and Aune Heggebo.

It means that Morrison does not necessarily have the depth required to make it into the upper echelons of the Championship.

The Baggies are likely working on stuff behind the scenes, but right now, it is looking like it could potentially be a long season.

Of course, Shilen Patel and Co will be wary of going over the loss limits once again, and will be keen to avoid another points deduction, but more spending is needed.

If it does not happen, there is every chance that they may be at the bottom end of the table once again, which is not where they want to be.
