What West Brom fans need to know as bar being pushed for Danny Imray transfer elsewhere

West Brom are still pushing hard to sign Danny Imray but competition is heating up for the Crystal Palace man.

Imray made 16 Championship appearances for the Baggies last season after joining on loan in January.

While Albion struggled through the dark days of Eric Ramsay, Imray particularly impressed when James Morrison took over.

With modern-day legend Morrison now assuming the role full time, West Brom are keen to bring Imray back full time.

However, there has been no shortage of suitors for his signature during the summer transfer window so far.

And another Championship rival has seemingly entered the fray, which could make Albion's task of bringing him back to The Hawthorns even tougher.

West Brom face another rival in Danny Imray transfer race

West Brom News wrote about how right-back has to be a priority for West Brom and Morrison in the rest of the window.

Youngster Alex Williams, who has just one Championship appearance to his name, played there in the 4-1 pre-season win against Shrewsbury Town.

Alfie Gilchrist did not feature in the match due to illness, and there are those who would prefer to see the former Chelsea man play at centre-back.

Bringing back Imray would be the ideal scenario, but the Daily Mail has now reported that Wrexham want to sign the 22-year-old.

Moreover, they report that the Welsh outfit - owned by Holywood due Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds - are pushing the bar on their transfer targets as they target reaching the Premier League.

The Mail notes that Albion still want him back, while Stoke City have also registered their interest.

What else do West Brom need before the window shuts?

Right-back does look a very problematic position with the Championship season-opener drawing ever closer.

But there are other areas that Albion are going to have to try and strengthen by the time they face Norwich City on 15 August, too.

Most notably, some more attacking players would not go amiss.

Some more options out wide to try and complement Mikey Johnston certainly would not go amiss for one.

Jimmy-Jay Morgan has done well in pre-season, but another option up front would also be welcome for Morrison.
