West Brom sold Thomas-Asante to Coventry back in the summer of 2024.
He made his Premier League debut for the Sky Blues against Arsenal, but could be set for a move away from the CBS.
BBC reporter Steve Hermon has responded to rumours linking West Brom to their former striker on X.
Hermon suggests that Albion fans should not get excited about a deal for Thomas-Asante, with a deal unlikely.
"Albion are running out of time to bag themselves a striker on Transfer Deadline Day," Hermon posted.
"Rumours linking West Brom with a move for former frontman Brandon Thomas-Asante from Coventry are just that.
"From what I understand, I wouldn’t get excited about a BTA return."
With time ticking, West Brom are against the clock to bag a new centre-forward.

West Brom appear open to signing a new striker, but only on loan.
It is said that Coventry want a permanent sale for Thomas-Asante, and Shilen Patel and Co. do not want to move forward on the basis.
Unless a dramatic change happens, Thomas-Asante will not be returning, and Morrison will not land a new striker.
Should the window shut with no further additions, it's highly likely that West Brom are left feeling satisfied with their business this summer, with a chance of a top-eight finish on the cards.
