Labor omnia vincit: Work conquers all not just a motto for West Brom

To say the 2025-2026 campaign has been disappointing for West Bromwich Albion would be among the biggest of all understatements. The appointment of Ryan Mason brought hope of fresh ideas, and a charge for the play-offs in the Championship. Instead, what Baggies fans got was a series of underwhelming performances a plummet down the table. Successor Eric Ramsay fared little better, and his short and ill-fated stint threatened to bring the dire consequence of relegation. That threat still looms large as we enter the decisive months of the season, but under Albion legend James Morrison, the fight to beat the drop is on. “Labor omnia vincit” – work conquers all. Right now, it absolutely must.

WEST BROM HONOURS BOARD

LABOR OMNIA VINCIT: THE BAGGIES LEGACY

Founded in 1878, West Bromwich Albion became a cornerstone of English football as a founder member of the Football League. Their identity is forged in the industrial heart of the Black Country, earning the nickname “The Baggies” and establishing The Hawthorns as one of the most iconic grounds in the country.

Albion’s history is rich with social significance, including the famous “Three Degrees” legends of Laurie Cunningham, Cyrille Regis, and Brendon Batson, who broke barriers in the 1970s. From the 1968 FA Cup triumph to the “Great Escape” of 2005, the club has built a reputation for resilience. Today, under the ownership of Shilen Patel, Albion are in a period of transition as they look to build towards the ultimate goal of returning to the Premier League.
