Valerien Ismael delivers transfer verdict on Kenneth Zohore

West Brom striker Kenneth Zohore is currently out of favour under Valerien Ismael but the door is not closed for him.

The Danish striker has struggled to make an impact since this arrival of Ismael this season, but the Baggies boss has suggested that things can change quickly.

The 27-year-old has only managed three appearances this season in all competitions, and there are suggestions that he could be allowed to leave in January.

West Brom tried to offload him during the summer transfer window, but they failed to find a buyer for him.

When asked whether Zohore could be sold in the January transfer window, Ismael has suggested that it’s too early to say.

“At the minute it’s early – you never know what can happen,” said the Baggies boss, as quoted by Express and Star.

“You see with Kean Bryan, that situation. After every game, the situation can change.

“For Ken, it’s about patience, work, he wants to play every time with the under-23s which is a good sign. He wants to stay in the rhythm. He trains well. He is our player so everyone needs to be involved, stay focused and involved and you never know.”

Bleak future

West Brom paid around £8million to sign the striker from Cardiff in 2019.

The Dane has struggled to make an impact from the beginning and only managed 17 appearances (six starts) in his first season at the club. He was loaned to Millwall last season where his overall performance wasn’t satisfactory.

Zohore, like everyone else, was given a fresh opportunity to make an impact, but every time he has come up with an underwhelming display.

Although he has done well for the under-23 side, there’s a feeling that he is not good enough to cement his position in the first-team set-up.

At the moment, unless there’s a succession of injuries at the club, it’s really difficult for Zohore to break into the first-team squad.

It has been claimed that West Brom are looking to sign another striker in January, and if they do so, it will push Zohore further down the pecking order.

Orlando City’s Daryl Dike is a transfer target for the Baggies but he may be out of their price range.
