Karlan Grant’s season examined as West Brom contract offer awaits final answer
Karlan Grant is in discussions with West Bromwich Albion over a new contract, but Baggies fans may be split on the forward.
Albion released their end-of-season retained list, stating they had offered a new contract to Maja, while remaining in discussions with Grant over new terms.
One report has stated that the Black Country Club have indeed offered the winger a new contract, with a final decision now all that’s left.
The Englishman has had an up-and-down time at The Hawthorns since arriving back in 2020, but some may argue that his time should now end.
Grant will decide whether to stay with West Brom or not in the coming days, as statistics from this season prove it may be best for all parties if he were to depart.

Karlan Grant hasn’t been the same since Cardiff City loan
Grant has had injury issues this season, which have prevented him from nailing down a starting spot under any of the three head coaches this term.
The 28-year-old should be in his prime, but only seems to have taken a step backwards since returning from his loan spell with Cardiff City in the 2023-24 season.

Grant has managed to score just four goals this season, and a total of 11 in 73 appearances since returning from the Bluebirds.
He managed to grab 24 goals in 101 games before leaving for a season, a far better return rate than what he currently has.

There has been one report that has stated that Grant has been offered a new deal on less money by the Baggies, but he’s said to be assessing his options.
There may be other offers on the table for the winger from other Championship sides, or even League One outfits.
West Brom may have offered Grant new deal over financial issues
West Brom look set to welcome Mikey Johnston back to first-team training in pre-season, after the Irishman suffered a leg fracture that’s kept him out since late February.
Even if the winger does return, there is a need for depth on the left-hand side of attack, especially with Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloaba returning to his parent club, Aston Villa.
The issue for Albion is that they don’t have unlimited funds to spend this summer, and Shilen Patel will know that keeping players like Grant will put less importance on new additions.
That being said, Grant will be one of the last remaining West Brom players on Premier League wages, hence the call to offer him a lower salary.
It’s now in the hands of the forward, but if he does turn the reported offer down, it could be best for both parties.
