Every ex-West Brom star set to feature at 2026 World Cup: From Morgan Rogers to two former strikers

West Bromwich Albion have had their fair share of international representatives over the years.

With the likes of Ben Foster, Jake Livermore and Sam Johnstone making the England squad during their time with the Baggies, the Black Country club has housed many senior internationals.

While not all squads have been announced yet, it is likely that no current Albion players will be Stateside this summer, with Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Wales all failing to qualify.

Though, there are multiple former players set to make the trip across the pond.

With this in mind, West Brom News takes a look at the former West Brom men set to represent their countries at the 2026 World Cup.

Morgan Rogers set for maiden England tournament

Current Aston Villa man Morgan Rogers has shone across both the Premier League and Europe.

Making the move from Middlesbrough in 2023, the versatile attacker has continued to shift through the gears at Villa Park.

With this in mind, West Brom will always wonder what could have been with Rogers.

Born in Halesowen, the 23-year-old is a product of the Albion academy – poached by Manchester City in 2019.

Though he only made a single senior appearance for the Black Country club, the thought of ‘what if’ is there.

Now, the boyhood Baggies fan is shining for a local rival, with 14 goals and 12 assists over the course of the season, earning him a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the tournament.

West Brom fans will have fond memories of Romelu Lukaku

In terms of successful loan spells, Romelu Lukaku’s year with West Brom is right up there as one of the best.

Joining from Chelsea in 2012, the young Belgian would score 17 times and register four assists in the league, as Albion secured an eighth-place finish under Steve Clarke.

Across spells with Manchester United, Inter Milan and Napoli, the striker has lifted 12 career trophies, though his lack of permanent home has often hurt him in conversations about the best strikers out there.

Taking part in his fourth World Cup with Belgium, the 33-year-old is one of the key leaders in Rudi Garcia’s squad, as they look to forge a new golden generation after their third-place finish in 2018.

Torbjorn Heggem will have West Brom fans remeniscing

At the end of the 2025 summer transfer window, centre-back Torbjorn Heggem would leave The Hawthorns after a successful year.

Joining Bologna for a sizeable £10million fee, the Norwegian has since made a name for himself in both Serie A and the Europa League.

With Norway taking part in their first World Cup for almost 30 years, the former West Brom defender is set to start alongside Brentford man Kristoffer Ajer at the back.

Given their attacking talent, some are already handing the Norwegians the ‘dark horse’ tag, with Erling Haaland, Alexander Sorloth and Jorgen Strand Larsen to boast in the final third, keeping Albion striker Heggebo out of the side.

Chris Wood to wind back the clock with New Zealand

Taking part in their third World Cup, New Zealand are preparing to go to their second with Chris Wood leading the line.

During their last appearance in 2010, Wood was on the books at West Brom – scoring his first professional goal with the Baggies just a year before.

Now 34, the experienced striker has continued to shine in English football, with his most recent exploits being for Nottingham Forest in Europe.

The New Zealand international would score just once for the Baggies, before his eventual permanent move to Leicester City in 2013, after six different loan spells while on the books in the Black Country.

Since then, he has more than proven himself for Leeds, Burnley, Newcastle and Forest, leaving Albion fans with another ‘what if’ scenario, as he prepares to lead his nation into just their third World Cup.
