West Brom fans have new Jayson Molumby hope after Ireland win vs Qatar
West Bromwich Albion fans will be hoping to see Jayson Molumby shine next season after his exploits with Ireland.
Molumby starred as Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side secured a 1-0 win over Qatar on 29 May, giving hope to Baggies supporters.
The 26-year-old did not have his finest campaign last time out, as Albion narrowly avoided relegation to League One.
He needs to step up next season and play a key part in making sure that the Black Country are nowhere near that position again when the 2026-27 season concludes.
West Brom supporters will be encouraged by his latest showing, and will perhaps start to believe that he could be a key player next season.

How did Molumby perform for Ireland?
The West Brom man was at his brilliant best for his country, as they brushed the Middle East nation aside at the Aviva Stadium.
Molumby completed the full match, with a passing accuracy of 98 per cent, misplacing just one of his 46 pass attempts, per Fotmob.
He created one chance for his teammates, made three passes into the final third and completing five accurate long balls, for a 100 per cent success rate.
| Molumby’s stats vs Qatar | |

| Recoveries | 4 |
| Clearances | 2 |
| Interceptions | 1 |
| Ground duels won | 1/3(33%) |
| Aerial duels won | 1/1(100%) |
Defensively, he made four recoveries, two clearances and one interception in the contest as the Boys in Green secured victory.
In terms of duels, he won one of three on the ground and the only one that he contested on the ground, for 33 and 100 per cent success rates in those metrics.
What does it mean for Molumby’s future?
Molumby is currently contracted to the Baggies until 2028, so they have his services for another two years.

That will be a relief for James Morrison, as he was a lynchpin of his side towards the end of the campaign.
He featured for the full 90 minutes in six of the last seven matches, as the Baggies stayed in the second tier, and his form for his country suggests that he can continue that important role next season.
If Molumby and others step up, it could be a much better campaign for the B71 outfit, than the one that they have just finished, where they were nearly relegated.
