West Brom: Door opens for Alex Palmer return as Josh Griffiths prepares for exit
West Bromwich Albion could have the perfect opportunity to bring Alex Palmer back this summer.
The 29-year-old is currently at Ipswich Town after he sealed a move to Portman Road in January 2025 while the Tractor Boys were in the Premier League.
Things haven’t really gone in his favour since linking up with Kieran McKenna after falling to second choice in the Championship.
With Christian Walton instilled as first choice this campaign, there is every chance that the Englishman seeks a move away this summer.
West Brom could be a landing destination for Palmer, with the departure of Josh Griffiths potentially set to come at the perfect time.

Josh Griffiths could join Stoke City
There are plenty of questions surrounding the goalkeeper position at The Hawthorns right now as the transfer window looms.
Max O’Leary and Joe Wildsmith are both out of contract, while Griffiths hasn’t truly become the go-to man in the Black Country.
| Name | Appearances (25/26) |
| Max O’Leary | 17 |
| Josh Griffiths | 24 |
| Joe Wildsmith | 7 |
The January signing from Bristol City has been offered a new deal, so could seal his future in B71 by putting pen to paper in the coming days or weeks.
It doesn’t appear that his decision will impact what the ex-Bristol Rovers loanee does, as he could be on the move.
A report from Alan Nixon via Patreon on Sunday suggests that Stoke City want to sign Griffiths with a view to him being their number two keeper.

He would go on to watch on as Viktor Johansson remains as the first-choice after signing a four-year deal at the start of May.
Griffiths could soon join Stoke City in a deal that may open the door for Palmer to kickstart his Hawthorns homecoming.
Alex Palmer could replace Griffiths at West Brom
There have been suggestions that the Ipswich man could be available on loan this summer after his side were promoted back to the Premier League.
With his minutes already limited in the second tier, a drop down could prove to be beneficial for his career prospects.
There may not be any better options out there, but to come back to West Brom after a massively positive stint before his move to Portman Road.

The Englishman could come in and reclaim his number one shirt in B71 and provide an excellent battle with O’Leary if he is to sign his deal.
That would certainly mark a strong goalkeeper situation for the Baggies, which could represent an excellent base from which to build forward.
