West Brom must move quick as optimism for Danny Imray return emerges

West Bromwich Albion will want to push for promotion, but they will need a big summer transfer window.

Manager James Morrison has proved himself in B71, going on a play-off places run of form to end the previous Championship season.

Financial issues have often hit the Baggies hard, and loan deals have often been the backbone of their transfer business.

Danny Imray was among those to arrive on a temporary deal, and after impressing in the Midlands, would be welcomed back at West Brom.

Now, ahead of West Brom’s summer window, they may have the green light to bring him back.

What has been said about Danny Imray’s Crystal Palace future?

West Brom have had mixed success when it comes to loan players arriving from the Premier League over the years.

But, fullback Imray has certainly been one of the bigger successes for the B71 outfit

In an ideal world, the Baggies would like to keep the 23-year-old, and they may have a chance to bring him back.

Despite public information, Imray’s contract in SE25 appears to be longer than the expected 2026 expiry, with The Athletic mooting another loan.

According to The Athletic, it is not guaranteed that Imray remains at Crystal Palace, with it stated that he “may need another loan before he is deemed ready to be a backup in the Premier League”.

With this information, it hands a clear pathway forward for the Baggies to seal another loan deal for the 23-year-old.

While Premier League loans have rarely been successful for West Brom, the case of Imray is a rare move that has worked out.

Supporters at The Hawthorns would certainly welcome back the Crystal Palace star with open arms as they look to move further away from the relegation battle.

What was the last we heard on Danny Imray returning to West Brom?

Back in May, it was reported by journalist John Percy that West Brom were looking to purchase Imray on a permanent deal.

However, it remains to be seen how feasible a transfer in that regard could be this summer with that report going quite cold since.

Of course, the managerial uncertainty at Selhurst Park does not help.

If Palace are unwilling to sanction a permanent exit, having the fallback of another loan is something positive to take away from the situation.

Perhaps the Baggies could even include an option to buy in any loan move in that case.
