West Brom face no-brainer Dennis Cirkin decision as farewell message sent

West Bromwich Albion could swoop for Dennis Cirkin this summer.

The Baggies, despite their disappointing campaign last time out, will head into pre-season with plenty of momentum behind them, given the improvement under James Morrison.

However, that will not be enough to progress next season, with summer recruitment set to play a crucial role in that.

Albion have already been linked with a move for Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson after his loan at Millwall.

And yet they could swoop for another Black Cats star in Cirkin, who has since waved goodbye to the Premier League club.

Dennis Cirkin’s next move assessed

Cirkin joined Sunderland as somewhat of an unknown from Tottenham back in their League One days, though he quickly established himself among the best in the Championship just a few seasons later.

He was vital in their promotion back to the top flight, though the arrival of Reinildo from Atletico Madrid reduced his gametime significantly.

As a result, the former Tottenham defender will move on from the Stadium of Light at the end of June, which is when his contract expires, having since posted an emotional farewell message to the Black Cats.

West Brom need investment this summer, though the addition of a player with his quality should not be overlooked, and it simply must be a question that they ask.

What would this mean for Callum Styles?

The Baggies need depth, so first and foremost, Cirkin and Callum Styles would compete for that left-back spot.

However, it would also give Morrison the option to utilise Styles elsewhere in times of need, without losing that natural left-sided defender.

The Hungary international was arguably West Brom’s Player of the Season last time out, and will be more than deserving of a spot in their starting 11 next campaign, with or without the arrival of Cirkin.
