Daryl Dike's time at West Bromwich Albion has officially came to an end this summer.

The towering forward endured a torrid time at The Hawthorns, with persistent injury woes derailing his progress.

When he joined the club in 2022, the American was seen as the man to fire the Baggies back to the Premier League, only for these issues to plague his spell

The American is now a free agent following his departure, after his contract expired at the end of last month.

He has since posted an emotional message on social media, thanking fans for their patience during his time in the Black Country

And after the hard-hitting message, supporters will be grateful for James Morrison's work in giving Dike a well-deserved swansong at the end of last season.

What has Daryl Dike said following West Brom departure?

Taking to Instagram, Dike could not have appeared more thankful for the support.

"Dear Baggies, after four and a half years at the club, my time has come to an end," he said.

"From the day I arrived in England, you welcomed me with open arms and helped me live out a dream. Representing this club and wearing the Albion shirt was a privilege I never took for granted. From my first game to my last, your support never wavered.

"Unfortunately, my time here also coincided with some of the most difficult years of my life. Setback after setback and disappointment after disappointment, there were countless moments that tested me. But through it all, you never let me feel alone," he said.

In total, the striker would miss over half of his West Brom career through injury, but Dike remained positive and thankful for what was around him.

"I was fortunate to be surrounded by incredible people every day," he added.

"The fans, the staff, and my teammates all played a huge part in helping me through those difficult moments. You became like family, and for that I will always be grateful."

Later on in the message, he would add that: "West Bromwich Albion will always hold a special place in my heart. I will always look back on my time here with immense pride, gratitude, and respect for everyone connected to this club."

Sadly, Dike would make just 68 appearances in four and a half years at The Hawthorns, scoring 11 times.

But, he did have his moment in the sun last season, with boss Morrison sparking some incredible scenes for the forward.

Dike will thank James Morrison - he finally had his moment

At the back end of last season, the Baggies worked extremely well to seal their spot in the Championship.

After the dismal spells of Ryan Mason and Eric Ramsay, former midfielder Morrison stepped in to guide the club to safety - doing so with a 10-match unbeaten run to the end of the term.

During his spell, Dike would have one of the most consistent spells of his West Brom career - featuring in each of the last 11 matches, with as previously covered by West Brom News, his future up in the air.

And with safety on the line heading into the final weeks, he scored the goal to all-but seal it, as the Baggies beat Preston 2-0 at Deepdale, sparking immense celebrations infront of the travelling support.

He would score against Watford three days later, before closing out his final two matches against Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday.

After a torrid time, Dike finally had his moment, and Morrison's switch to a two-striker formation perfectly suited him, even if it was for a limited period.

Fitness concerns meant that a move away was inevitable this summer, but the American went out on a high, and fans will always hold him in high regard.
