West Bromwich Albion are aiming for a more prosperous 2026-27 campaign, with their recruitment pointing in the right direction.

This week, the Albion have already announced the signings of both Barney Stewart and Jimmy-Jay Morgan.

The pair arrive amid an ongoing reset at The Hawthorns, after the Baggies just avoided relegation at the back end of last term.

Following the dismal spells of Ryan Mason and Eric Ramsay, former midfielder James Morrison would be brought in to steady the ship.

That, he most certainly did, with a 10-match unbeaten run before the final day securing survival at a canter.

Heading into the new term, a welcome change has arrived for fans in the Black Country, as they seemingly pull in the same direction for the first time in a long period.

What did Jimmy-Jay Morgan say following West Brom arrival?

Arriving from Chelsea in a deal worth an initial £1.3million, Morgan revealed how a chat with former loanee Danny Imray aided him in his decision to join.

The nature of the comments themselves will be what is most important to Baggies fans though.

Upon Morrison's appointment in February, the group were downtrodden, and The Hawthorns emptying further each week - the upturn since has been incredible.

"I've heard nothing but positive things so far and I understand how big the club is," said Morgan, after chats with Imray, Morrison and former Chelsea teammate Alfie Gilchrist.

"My conversation with the manager was really good," he added. "He told me about the style of football he wants to play and how I'm going to fit into that. He also spoke about the work he wants to do wth me to help bring out my best attributes.

"Alfie [Gilchrist] spoke about the size of the club and settling into a club of this size. I'm really close with Alfie," he went on to say.

Concluding, Morgan emphasised once again just how happy he is to be a West Brom player.

"I've only been here for a very short time, but I already feel very comfortable and I can tell it's a family club. I feel very happy."

Since Morrison's appointment, the atmosphere around the club has completely shifted, and this has once again been backed up with the way his new signing has spoken.

Morgan comments match theme of the moment at West Brom

After a strong end to the campaign, The Hawthorns is in general, a positive place to be around at the moment.

For years, Albion have been in search of a project, and they may have accidentally landed on the right one finally.

In Morrison, there is a manager who knows the place inside and out, while his own coaching ability has proven the doubters wrong thus far.

This naturally, rubs off on the players, who as a group have been in high spirits for months.

Earlier this week, young striker Stewart remained full of optimism and energy in his opening interview - the same can be said for Morgan.

Heading into next season, the Baggies seemingly have a group of players who seemingly want to play for Albion, led by a manager who may know exactly how to get the best out of them.

It is early days, but the signs are looking strong in the Black Country.
