That was validated by talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook on Wednesday, who claimed the same thing.

Taking to X, he said: "WBA are interested in Saints striker Cam Archer."

However, he did not state whether they intend to act on that interest with a formal bid.

Given that the interest keeps being reported, it probably means that they will do something about it, sooner rather than later.

How did Archer perform in the Championship last season?

Archer played 30 times in the second tier last season, with four goals and three assists, which is not the best record.

He averaged 2.71 shots and 0.99 chances created per 90 minutes in an under the radar campaign, per Fotmob data.

He completed 4.78 touches in the opposition box per game, suggesting that he is still getting in dangerous areas despite the other numbers not looking too great.

Perhaps Morrison and the Baggies' recruitment team just feel like he needs a change of scenery to thrive again.

Why do Southampton want to sell Archer?

The Saints are willing to sell the attacker as they do not need him anymore.

They have Cyle Larin and Ross Stewart, who are ahead of him in the pecking order on the south coast.

They have just spent £9m on former Albion loanee Lewis Dobbin as well, so Archer is likely surplus to requirements for Tonda Eckert's side.
