West Bromwich Albion now have the perfect opportunity to finally sign Cameron Archer.

The 24-year-old has emerged as a target for the Baggies this summer as they look to refresh their forward line.

He is coming off the back of a frustrating campaign in the Championship with Southampton, just like the B71 outfit.

The striker certainly has a point to prove and looks set to be on the move from St Mary's.

That could come at a great time for James Morrison and Co. as their hunt for a new attacking option continues.

The Hawthorns could soon welcome Archer as the ideal chance to secure his signature has now emerged.

West Brom to benefit from £9m agreement

Having narrowly avoided relegation to League One, there is a need for change in the Black Country.

That has already begun with the addition of Barney Stewart and Jimmy-Jay Morgan to the forward line.

There is clearly a desire to bring in other attackers and Archer is certainly a target for West Brom.

They need to remain active and potentially take advantage of a market situation that is unfolding at Southampton.

That comes after the Saints agreed a £9million deal to sign Lewis Dobbin from Aston Villa, according to Jacob Tanswell.

The Athletic journalist says the former Albion loanee is set to undergo a medical on the south coast before sealing a move after plenty of Championship interest.

That could open the door for Archer to move on and give the Baggies a perfect chance to seal a deal.

How Lewis Dobbin could help West Brom sign Archer

The 23-year-old certainly didn't have the greatest time at The Hawthorns after joining in the summer of 2024.

After 18 appearances and no goals in six months, he swapped B71 for Norwich City.

Dobbin's spell with the Baggies won't be remembered, but it would be ideal if he could now help them sign Archer.

If he completes his £9m switch to St Mary's, Southampton will likely be keen to make a sale to cover some of that outlay.

The former Villa striker could do exactly that should he link up with Morrison.

It will all depend on the fee and how far West Brom can stretch themselves this summer.
